Dr. Sarah Irwin

Sarah is originally from County Down. She travelled over to University in Scotland in 1997 to study Medicine, where she gained her Medical Degree with Distinction in 2002.

She next completed her general hospital training and then continued her studies on a General Practice training scheme through hospital posts in Obstetrics & Gynaecology, General Medicine, Paediatrics and Psychiatry. After her hospital training she completed her General Practice training and obtained Membership with Merit of the UK College of General Practitioners in 2008.

She has a special interest in Women’s Health and has also obtained Diplomas from the UK College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Health. She has an advanced certificate from the Irish College of General Practitioners in the fitting and management of long acting reversible contraception (i.e. contraceptive coils & implants) and is a registered college tutor in this area. She also has a special interest in Dermatology (skin conditions), including the treatment of skin lesions with Cryotherapy i.e. ‘freeze treatment’. She is registered on the Irish Medical Council General Practice Specialist Register and is a member the Irish College of General Practitioners.

Sarah met and married a Louth man while in Scotland! She returned to Ireland with her family in 2008 and has been working in the local area since her return.

Caroline is a very valuable asset to the practice. She has qualifications in the following;

  • Sexually transmitted disease detection and management
  • Basic life support

Caroline Currently works Monday-Thursday Mornings 8:30-12:30 and Wednesday afternoon 2:30-5:30

Originally from Bellewstown, Co.Meath.

Aymie graduated from the Royal College of Surgeons in Dublin in 2004 and subsequently worked in General Medicine, General Surgery, and Orthopaedics before moving to Perth, Western Australia to work in Neurology, Cardiology, Respiratory and Emergency Medicine.

She returned to Ireland to undertake specialist training in General Practice, which involved posts in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, General Medicine, Paediatrics, Psychiatry and Emergency Medicine in various hospitals throughout the North East. Aymie also completed 2 years placement in general practice as part of her training.

Aymie has the following postgraduate qualifications

Her special interests are Family Planning (including insertion and removal of Mirena coils and Implanon contraceptive implants), Childrens and Women’s Health, Sexual Health, Travel Medicine and Minor Surgical Procedures.

She is a member of the General Practice Specialist Register and the Irish College of General Practitioners.
Aymie is married to Paul O’Connor, they have 2 daughters Eva and Cara.

Paul is originally from Schull in Co.Cork.

Paul initially completed an Honours Degree in Applied Science and Forensic Measurement in The University of Teeside, in the United Kingdom before moving to a career in Medicine.

He graduated from the Royal College of Surgeons in Dublin in 2004 and subsequently worked in General Medicine and General Surgery in Waterford Regional Hospital. Paul then moved to Perth, Western Australia to work in Royal Perth, and Swan District Hospitals as a Senior House Officer in General Medicine, Cardiology, Respiratory and Emergency Medicine.

Paul completed his General Practice Specialist training in The North East, working in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, Our Ladys Hospital, Navan, and Cavan General Hospital. During his training, he completed rotations in Emergency Medicine, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, General Medicine and Paediatrics. He also Completed 2 years General Practice placement in Practices in Meath and Louth.

Paul has the following Postgraduate Qualifications

Paul’s areas of special interest include, the Management of Diabetes, Minor Surgery, Travel Health and Vaccination, Health Promotion and Sexual Health screening and diagnosis.

He is a member of both the Irish Medical Council’s Specialist Register in General Practice and of the Irish College of General Practitioners

Paul is married to Aymie and they have 2 daughters Eva and Cara.

When Paul is not working he enjoys sailing, fishing and spending time with his family.
